Since 2016 I've been scriptwriting, directing, producing and/or art directing music videos for artists and my own band, Pavlove. After a couple of years I got to do the same for advertising.
Initially, I started working as a production assistant on set, which gave me the opportunity and network to work as a director and an art director on some very cool projects.

Since 2023 I've been immersing myself even more into the world of screenwriting
for TV and fiction. Writer rooms are my favourite kind of rooms.

Max Colombie went through a rough patch in 2022 and decided to take some time off from touring and writing to work on his (mental) health. His journey back to the stage was beautifully captured by different DOP's, including Leonardo Van Dijl. There was a whole bunch of footage that needed a storyline. Which is where I came in as a director and script writer. I wanted to show a side of Max fans and people hadn't seen yet. A softer yet mesmerising side. An ode to his artistry, his personality and his very necessary message.

The song is about alienation and the loneliness that comes with the eternal search of belonging somewhere. So, I started by writing an Alice in Wonderland inspired story. Soon enough me and the band discovered that we share a mutual love for certain movies and directors. We decided to make the music video a real visual ode to them. From camera lenses to costumes and casting, it all got inspired by movies like Clerks, Clockwork Orange, The Big Lebowski, Paris Texas, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Fargo, Habla Con Ella, One flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest, ...

CRAWLING UP THE WALLS

Crawling Up The Walls is a song about an obsessive longing for someone.
For the video I didn't want to translate it literally, so I based it on the extreme devotion and the controlling relationship between 60s/70s cult members and their leader. We follow the double life of one of these leaders (played by the immaculate Jan Bijvoet), who supposedly leaves for work in the morning, like
a proper Republican-like husband. But soon you discover how his hunger for power takes a dark turn.

In a world where everyone acts, dresses, works and makes love in the same

way, Oproer wrote GEEZ as a manifesto to break loose. So I wrote a dynamic yet straightforward script to accompany that feeling. For the main role I chose

dancer Joffrey Anane for his superhuman moves and excellent expression of
emotions. The result is an 80s corporate kitsch inspired music video, with references to Kubrick, Spike Jonze and to series like Severance and Stranger Things. Get your freak on.

BACK TO THAT DAY

'Back to that day' is a beautiful ode to Gertjan's muse. So to accompany the song we wanted to make a music video that showed real love. And an abundance of it. A mosaic of small gestures between lovers. All is love. Love is all. By inviting 15 couples to talk about their first encounter on a symbolic park bench we managed to make a sweet collage, that ends with the couples dancing around Gertjan. And when he turns the camera, we see her, the loveofhislife, behind the camera as if he was playing this whole song just for her.

This song is about how a relationship with a narcissist can break you. To symbolise this, I wanted to incorporate Lani’s Italian heritage by using the ‘Moretta’ mask. This mask was worn by women in the 18th century to masked balls, on the one hand to seduce, but also as a means of oppression, since they could not say anything through the mask itself: the mask is worn through a mouthpiece on which you have to bite. Since narcissists are also known for being the center of attention, like a black hole, the mask is also a visual symbol. Inspired by Poor Things, Nadia Cohen Lee, Dior and Twin Peaks, the video takes on a high-end fashion vibe based on the Renaissance, but with a twist, combined with a modern Vogue feel.

A song about showing your true colours. And a band that trusted me enough to dress them up in 80s dating video looks. Together with DOP Pasquale Baseotto we created a take on these desperate sods trying to get a date in

pre-Tinder times. And the result is...

Well, let's just say I would bet money on the fact that you'll be in love with at least one of these characters by the end of the music video.

IF ONLY YOU KNEW

When Fabian asked to create a music video together for If Only You Knew,

I didn't hesitate, you know? He wanted a simple lyric video which ended up in a not so simple lyric video. I wrote a script accompanying the lyrics, inspired by the art direction and surrealism of The Color of Pomegranates by Sergei Parajanov, René Magritte and French new wave movies. The result is a stylistic, visually and conceptually interesting music video for a Beatles-esque song that will conquer your heart.

What if you let two dancers play the roles of husband and doll? Then you

get fireworks. And a music video you want to brag with. Since it was a shoot

for my own band, I ended up being a human centipede. Nope, not the one from South Park. I meant I took on different roles in the process and got very lucky to work with incredibly talented people as a crew and cast.

For this music video the whole crew and cast really gave it all they got.

With the incredible Antony Nti as a director and the cinematographic eye of Xavier Van D'huynslaeger, we got to capture a love story with(out) a happy ending. Fellow musician/actor Lennert Coorevits and talented actress Maaike Somers played our main characters and a whoooole bunch of friends were willing to step through a time portal. Can you spot my cameo? #tarantino

With Good Together the band ENO secured themselves a spot in the finals of

De Nieuwe Lichting (StuBru) and Humo's Rock Rally. Their catchy, 90s inspired song begged for a choreography and as I was looking for a reference, I stumbled upon the home videos of an American guy that matched the music perfectly. He agreed to let us use and edit the footage et voilà. The concept needed to depict the 'remember the good old days' and 'dance like nobody's watching except all your friends' vibe. It was a perfect, sun-kissed match.

Playing husband and wife in a music video for our band wasn't necessarily on me and my brother's bucket list. But hey, all in the name of art, right?

The 50s housewife on the loose was inspired by Almodóvar movies, I Love Lucy, LIFE magazines and Hannibal Lector. Okay, that last one is fake news. Or... is it?
